The Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS) is a nonprofit organization that promotes the Dominican Republic as an ideal location for medical tourism due to its medical, dental and welfare of high quality and cost-effectiveness , terms of hospitality, encouraging best industry practices and safety of care, promoting centers and specialists with appropriate endorsements, accreditations and certifications in order to ensure good results and a positive experience for health tourists. It is chaired by Dr. Alejandro Cambiaso, Board Certified Medical Tourism expert on Prevention and Management of Health Centers.

Health authorities in the Dominican Republic issued a general alert to the imminent arrival in the country of Zika virus, a disease caused by mosquitoes of the genus Aedes.
